The Girls' Princess Party
Felicity turned five and Heidi three in the past week and a half, so we decided to do a shared birthday party. These girls are some of the most feminine, girly girls you've ever met, so princess party seemed perfect. That and I knew I could find stuff in that theme on the fly if things got too stressful to plan a party in the week before. Four kids are HARD to manage even without adding in parties, especially with them all close in age and home-schooled. But this is the stuff that I dreamed about before having kids! I wanted to make memories that my kids would talk about to their kids. I did all of the baking at night while the littles slept!
Heidi looking serious (she's not) before the party, in her princess gown and gloves. We literally rolled out the red carpet for the guests -- our first all-girl party! The guests dressed as princesses too. It was adorable!
I made organic marshmallows (with vegetable-dyed GMO-free sprinkles!) using my mom's recipe, two days before the party and froze them. They're yummiest when they've been frozen!
I ordered some old silver teapots from Etsy and filled them with fresh flowers.
My sister, Rachael, loaned me some of her gold-and-white antique teacups from her wedding.
We used the kid table and dining room tables for eating, and then afterward, we moved to the kitchen and there, each guest got to paint a canvas to take home.
I used blush pink linen napkins and glasses for the party! I bought both when the stores were having 20%-off sales!
Everything at the party was gluten free! Both homemade: the cake on the right was a lemon cake, and the cupcakes were almond, both with (grass-fed) buttercream frosting. We also had organic jellybeans, macarons, organic strawberries, and organic lemonade. The cupcake stand is MeriMeri!
We're on sugar overload over here, and I'm totally ready to be back to healthy food now!!!
